BRUNEI TO PLAY INDONESIA IN FINAL OF HBT 2012

BRUNEI TO PLAY INDONESIA IN FINAL OF HBT 2012
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (7 March 2012) – Hosts Brunei created history when they edged 2007 runners-up Myanmar 3-2 to carve their place in the final of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2012 which will be played out in two days at the Hasannal Bolkiah Stadium.
What made the win over Myanmar in the semi-final more significant was the fact that the hosts had to come back from a goal down off a 31st minute strike from Mai Ah Naing for the win.
Following the 1-0 advantage to Myanmar in the first half, the Sultanate side was quick to find the equalizer when Mohd Nurikhwan Othman slotted home in the 56th minute. The hosts then took the lead for the first time in the game when Mohd Azwan Ali Rahman scored four minutes later.
And in front of more than 25,000 fans, Brunei showed their dominance with the third goal of the game off striker Adi Said in the 79th minute. And while Myanmar did pull a goal back off a converted penalty towards the tail end of the game, there was no denying Brunei the celebration and their place in the final.
In the meantime Indonesia, the 2002 inaugural champions, blanked out Vietnam 2-0 in the first semi-final that was played earlier.
Against the speedy Vietnamese, the Indonesian side was more patient before scoring the first goal of the game in the 36th minute off Miko Ardiyanto before captain Andik Vermansyah then made it 2-0 with a second strike late in the second half.

MYANMAR AND INDONESIA IN SEMI-FINALS OF HBT 2012
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (5 March 2012) – Myanmar and Indonesia have qualified for the semi-finals of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2012 despite the contrasting results they scored in their last Group A matches last night.
While Myanmar could only afford a drab scoreless draw against Singapore, the Indonesians comprehensively beat the Philippines 3-0. Both Myanmar and Indonesia qualified to the semi-finals of the HBT 2012 as group winners and runners up respectively.
Indonesia will meet Group B champions Vietnam while Mynmar will have to wait for tonight’s result to see whether they will play either hosts Brunei Darussalam or Timor Leste in the final four.
In the match between Indonesia and the Philippines, national Under-23 striker Andik Vermansyah headed in the first goal of the game in the 17th minute before doubling the lead with a penalty on 44 minute.
Yosua Pahabol then completed the rout with the third goal of the game when he finished off a rebound in the 63rd minute.

BRUNEI KEEP HBT 2012 SEMI-FINALS HOPE ALIVE
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (4 March 2012) – Hosts Brunei kept their hopes of a place in the semi-finals of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2012 is alive when they dispatched Malaysia 3-0 last night at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Following their 2-1 loss to Vietnam in their previous match, Brunei were desperate for a win and they certainly showed no quarters when they scored all three goals against the Malaysians in the first half of the tie.
Striker Adi Said gave Brunei the lead with a strike in the eighth minute before Mohd Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir added the second goal ten minutes later. An own goal from Malaysia’s Gan Jay Han a minute later compounded the loss for the visitors who have only picked up a point in three matches.
Winless Malaysia also lost Mohd Hadid Azman in the 41st minute have to yet score a single goal in their campaign. With the win, Brunei are on the same six points with second placed Timor Leste in Group B.
In the meantime, Vietnam are comfortable at the top of Group B when they demolished Timor Leste 2-0 at the Berakas Sports Complex. A goal in each half of the game off Dao Duy Khanh in the 18th minute and Nguyen Xuan Nam in the 90th minute did the job for Vietnam who have picked up ten points from four matches.
For Timor Leste, the loss meant that they will have to win their last group game against Brunei tomorrow should they want to progress into the semi-finals of the meet this year. And they will have to do it without Raimundo Sarmento who was red carded in the 75th minute.
