BRUNEI will not return to the M-League next season following the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) decision not to allow them direct entry into the Super League or Premier League.
FAM decided last month that Brunei will only be accepted to play in the third-tier FAM League.
"We will not be joining the FAM League. We will shift our attention to strengthening our own league," Brunei FA president Datuk Paduka Abdul Rahman Mohiddin told www.aseanfootball.org yesterday.
The Brunei FA had applied to play in the M-League following its Under-21 team's victory in the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in March.
Brunei previously played in the M-League where their best result was winning the Malaysia Cup in 1999. The sultanate's only professional side, DPMM FC, presently play in the S-League. By Ajitpal Singh
