The last time both sides met at the AFF Suzuki Cup Qualification, Laos ran out 6-1 winners. Fast forward two years later and East Timor clinches a decisive 3-1 win to take a huge step towards qualification.
But it was Laos who started more positively of the two. A series of long range efforts from Laos in a scrappy opening 20 minutes were the only highlights however.
Khampheng Sayavutthi's cracking shot from long range managed to beat the goalkeeper on 24 minutes but was steered wide by the upright.
