Abu Dhabi: Iran’s Binham Shoharabi and Jordanian Mustafa Farouk have won the Best Player Award and Best Goalkeeper Award respectively at the AFC Dream Asia Cerebral Palsy Tournament UAE 2012 which concluded Saturday.
Mohammed Aashek of Singapore and the UAE team, meanwhile, have won the Most Goals Award and Fair Play Award respectively.
Binham Shoharabi has shared his success with all the other players in the six-nation inaugural tournament for people with disability by the AFC.
“I’m so excited and happy to win the title, but there are other players who are better than me in the tournament,” he said.
“Now, it’s my turn to honour them all with congratulations.
“I am very happy to have been given the chance to participate in something like this. I am amazed at how much effort and organisation has been given to this tournament”
Mustafa has said he is overjoyed for participating for the first time in his life in an international tournament and revealed his ambition.
“I would like to thank the Jordanian Football Association as well as the Asian Football Association for giving me the opportunity to share and take part in this wonderful event.
“My dream and greatest wish is to become the best goalkeeper that Asia has ever seen.
The closing ceremony was a big do that included fireworks, a film showcasing special moments captured during the tournament by various photographers as well as an exceptional dance presentation by the local traditional group, Bin Nouman.
The participating teams’ ranks culminated as follows, from first place to last:
1. Iran
2. Australia
3. Singapore
4. Korea
5. United Arab Emirates
6. Jordan
